I searched, but I couldn't find a collection of the info I'd like to consolidate. I know this subject is as old as the V6 Fiero, and I know it's been beaten into the afterlife. My purpose in this post would be better served in a poll, but since that isn't possible:

If you've experienced what you thought was the V6 "exhaust tick" and fixed it, what was the actual issue? The choices are below; please don't post what you THINK the problem was, only what you know for a FACT.

Based on 3 responses, ticking caused by:

67%: Cracked manifold

33%: Blown gasket

0%: Warped manifold due to broken bolts/studs

0%: Other/not exhaust

Go!

Cracked manifold. Specifically, the front (firewall) side. Just after the #6 port, nearest the driver.

Same as Raydar. Front manifold where the # 6 runner joins the main log, downstream side.
