I'm having some trouble getting the front spindle on the ball joint stem. Is there a way to press it on that I don't know about?

This is what I have so far and can't get anywhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Drop a PM to qwikgta, Rob just did this conversion and had serious fitment issues. I had mine installed before I bought the car so I don't know it if the PO of my car had issues. I had a heck of a time finding a shop to do a proper 4 corner alignment but once it was done it has been very good!

I found a thread he had about it. I did not go with the same kit. Mine was purchased 4-5 years ago from HT Motorsports before it became Arraut and I only went with the tubular control arms and not the crossmember.

It looks like you are using the drop spindle .I think you need to use ball joints for an 88 .The sport suspension was designed for 84 - 87 spindles etc while the drop spindle uses some 88 components . The sport suspension works really well with 84-87 spindles and hubs with the rotors cut off and 11" lebaron brake kit .

"serious" is the key word. Just saw your PM. Thought I'd answer here. Yes, I had a similar issue, except mine was the steering rack end of spindle. The first set I got were drilled wrong (upside down), the second set had different size holes for the steering rack ball joints. One side was open enough, the other not. I had to drill out the hole with a 12mm drill to get the ball joint to go in all the way. Not saying you should do the same, but yours looks just like mine did. Just out of kicks, have you tried other ball joints in the same hole to see if any other ones fit? I did, and none fit into the end that was drilled too small. Sorry I don't have any help, but I have had to modify every part that was sent to me in my kit. I know they are the only game in town for a lot of these parts, so you just have to deal with what they send you. My 1.5" dropped spindles were made on two different days, by two different welders. When I put them side-by-side you could see that they looked different. The bracket for the 13" brakes was off by 1/2 inch, the actual steel used was different between the two, if I didn't already send another set back, I would have sent it back too, now I wish I had. I had a lot of other fitment issues too, but they are not relevant to this discussion.

bottom line, you may have to drill out the hole, If its the same as the others its 12mm.

Thanks for the input. I'll check it with a dial caliper tomorrow when I get back from work.

with my rcc control arms, I had to put a jack under the control arm and practically lift the corner of the car by the lower arm before the arm got into a position that allowed the balljoint to slip into place. It puts a lot of pressure on the balljoint but hopefully it slips in place before your car comes off the jack stand. I also have very stiff springs so it takes a lot of weight to compress them.

When I did my '86 with the HT front suspension in 1999, they'd powdercoated the inside of the taper on the spindles.
Snugged up great for about 5000 miles, then as the powdercoating broke loose, I developed a front end clunk that wouldn't go away. Ever.
