Ok All i'm new here so maybe i can get some help since i'm a new used jeep owner, What i have is a 3.7 liter engine that i'm replacing all 3 of the timing chains on it. Here is the problem that i'm having I place the Crankshaft sprocket at 6 o'clock and the color link below the dot, and the idler sprocket at 12 with the 2 color links with dot in center below them, the right camshaft with the V6 straight up, and the color link above the dot, and the same on the left the balance shaft dot is up at 12 as well, after that is determined to be correct i set the tensioners, then rotate it 2 times to make sure all is in line with the crankshaft and the idler sprocket, and it is, so then i proceed to reinstall everything, then i start it up, and it runs fine till it warms up then i get a slapping sound sound so then i pull the valve cover to find out that the right camshaft chain is loose enough i can lift it off the sprocket about a 1/2 inch, and of course it starts running rough, just not sure what to do to prvent this and may i add this chain, tensioners, and gears are all brand new, just wondering if the chains was different size, or something i can try to prevent this issue, Thanks to all that reply's back

Not sure how this relates to a Fiero, unless you put that engine in a Fiero

Anyway, are you following a manual when working on this?

Welcome to the Forum!

Dobey is right.....we have a section called 'Other cars' which may be helpful....but we're hopeless Fiero addicts in this space.
