Well i tested everything and finally came to the conclusion that my headlight control module is bad. I opened it up and confirmed. there is a fried wire inside the clear square box in the middle of the electrical board. i hit up the local pick and pull but the fiero there had been picked clean of everything except the iron duke. so if anyone has one for sale that isnt $600 like on the fiero store i would like to buy one. it isnt an emergency since i just set the headlights up and disconnected the connectors. i just cant convince myself to spend 600 bucks to make my headlights go up and down.

Check the Mall, they pop up quite often

Grab this if still available and you have an extra harness - https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/069773.html

See or Reread my Cave, Gen 2 HL Motor
I updated module repair section of page today.

I'm guessing the wire fried is labeled F1 or F2?
If so then carefully check both motors, wiring to them and front ground wiring or new module can fry fuses or worse too.

thanks ogre. The wire that was fried is actually inside the plastic housing in the middle of the board. it melted through the plastic. The previous owner had issues with the headlight motors and rebuilt them. he also said something was up with the way the previous owner wired up the radio. I fixed the wiring for the radio. I also cleaned up the grounds up front by the headlights. i removed both headlights and pluged the motor from the right side into the left side plug and it worked. so i guess it is just the module.

Update. finally got everything working. Turns out it was the passenger side motor that killed the module. so i replaced the module and the motor and now i have working headlights. now next question is does anyone know if the metal headlight retainer is just a regular gm part that i can get at oreillys? i am talking about the chrome trim ring that holds the actual headlight bulb in. one of mine is broken.

Yep bring yours to a parts store like Oreilly or Napa and they should have them, they are kind of generic and some other vehicles have the same one.

Where can you get a new motor? I need a passenger side motor. My Fiero is the only reliable vehicle I have and I need to be sure the headlights will work.

I'd ask for one in the "mall" here on the forum.
