So my automatic '87 GT developed a problem today after several laps around Watkins Glen International. It went from being mechanically perfect to horrible. It now shifts to 2nd at 5000 rpm, not 2500 like before. It stops accelerating around 20mph, then revves until it pops into 2nd. Also, my passing gear slips, so I can no longer go full throttle while accelerating, or ever.

How did you determine that? Did you have to take it somewhere and get it disassembled?

Check your fluid.
Engine running, and up to temp. Move the selector through each gear range, ending up in Park.
Also make sure your TV cable is adjusted correctly.
(From what you're describing, it sounds like more, but this stuff is easy and free.)

Please avoid creating duplicate threads, as it really makes it difficult for people to know what to reply with, and makes it harder for other people with similar problems to find an answer.

Done all that, except the cable. How do I check to see if it is adjusted properly?

Suggest you leave this thread alone and use the other one for your problem. This one will die on it's own.

You might try auto-rx its a cleaner and conditioner that quite am few people have had success with. Go to the website auto-rx.com and read the testimonials. I t worked for me on leaking axle seals.

in the factory FIERO MANUAL(everyone should have one). on page 125C-23 there is a Picture of the Intermediate servo cushion "Spring" and where it is Located, you need to pull the Lower trans PAN. the part is listed as #131, very easy to get to And Change. If this spring is broken, it will do exactly what you are describing. Hope this helps.
