My '88 GT has a small red light bulb cover on the recessed console panel that holds the cigarette lighter. Can't figure out what its for. Is it factory or something a previous owner installed for some unknown reason? I've not removed the panel so I'm not sure what's behind the cover or where the wire lead (assuming there is one) goes.

Picture would help, but I assume that a PO installed an accessory. Should only need to remove a couple of screws to remove the cover plate.

Yep, that was it. PO installed a Viper alarm / keyless entry system. I just went to check and there is a very dim red light flashing when the alarm is on.

Another Fiero mystery solved...
