First-gen headlight motor keeps running/clicking when the light hits its uppermost or lowermost points and clicks, nonstop. Motor just forgets to turn off. Should I just do a full Rodney Dickman rebuild kit? Or is there something cheaper I can do in the interim seeing as these headlights are getting replaced with flushmounts in a year?
With a run-on, it's generally caused by a stripped gear. It's usually in just one direction, though. Rebuilding with Rodney's metal gears is recommended. Until problems are resolved with available plastic gears, I no longer will use them for rebuilding customer's motors.
Alrighty, will grab a rebuild kit, see if that helps the situation. Like I said, these are ultimately going away, but it'd be nice to not have to hand crank it 'til then.
