I have a 2004 Grand Prix GPT. Engine, auto-trans, complete with harness, PCM, body control module, etc., installed in a Lambo kit.
When I turn the key on, cluster lights up, no warnings on display, except ABS and traction control which are not being used. When
I turn key to start, cluster goes dark, fuel pump does not run, engine does not crank.

It almost seems like trying to start in gear. Anyone know how Auto-trans neutral switch works?

OBD code reader will not make connection to PCM. I have Alldata wiring diagrams, but, boy are they complicated! Any hints where to start trouble-shooting? Don't want to haul it to a dealer.

So you swapped the complete donor engine and body harness into the car?

Sort of sounds like you are having a battery connection problem or ground problem. When the starter draws current the voltage drops and the lights go out. I would check that out before you do much else. Larry

Good point. Ide allso check to make sure you have a good ground off the engine block. Did you have the PCM edited,so the security feature would be disabled and the car would start (you could allso have the ABS edited out too). Is the battery fulley charged?

Did you use every thing from the GP including the steering column and ignition switch, most newer cars no longer have the neutral start switch on the tranny with power to the starter going through the switch they use relays and such to control power to pretty much every thing including ignition power to most systems goes through relays. If you want to explain better how you wired your car I can most likely help you get every thing working. Dan

3800 Engine Swap -- will not start -- HELP

Thanks for the reply Mrlogic1234. My wiring is completely stock....all plug in, except for things I'm not using. ABS, wheel sensors, etc. No new wiring at all or patched wiring. It seems I must have one critical wire disconnected somewhere. I can jump the relays and crank, get fuel, and spark; however, the fuel injectors are not pulsing. I have a second PCM with same problems. Any guess as to what it could be?

Is it in gear? I freaked out when my swap didn't start for 5 mins... Till I realized I didn't know what gear the trans was in (Auto)... Mine actually won't start in Neutral, only Park. But yes, pop the shifter cable off the trans. Park should be all the way Counter Clockwise, If I remember right... Just grab it and twist.

Also for what its worth... Did you put that dog bone washer back on by the C500 connector? It connects both posts.... I have no idea what it does but, I know its easy to forget. :P

might want to check that all your security learn stuff is done as well if you have been swapping modules around... Google up some of those learn procedures (they are basically key on for 10 minutes, key off, key on for 10 minutes repeat)
