Can anyone explain why I get a slamming noise when I open or close my vents on the heater? It's like some vent is not closing as softly as it should. I do not remember my last car doing that.

Thanks.

The doors had strips of open cell foam on the edges.......now 25 years old and falling apart......I think the foam was to make them quiet as much as block the air.

I had to pull the entire dash and heater box on the Indy to fix this.
The foam on the doors was shot and needed to be replaced.

It seems that every Fiero I've owned has had that affliction. Old and sticking servo motors and linkage may contribute to the problem, too.
