Behind the inner door handle there is a black plastic plate, or shield that covers the view through the door handle that hides the inner door. It is a little smaller than the door handle. When I removed my inner door panel, it just fell out. How is that installed? Thanks

I know what you are talking about--the filler piece of black plastic fits onto the metal pate that the handle is part of. There should be little plastic tabs the fit into recesses on the metal bracket that has the actual door handle-it just sits on it and gets trapped when you put the outer plate back on

That's the part that the screw goes onto that is found on the outside of the door skin under the trim strip. The little tang thing goes towards the handle as it sides inro the bracket which is actually attached to the door frame. That little SOB makes it a bear to reinstall the doorlock clip!
