In my State, because of the age of the car, emissions systems aren't inspected.

Has anyone removed the egr system and cats ?

Removing the catalytic converter is very common in non-emissions areas. Some also remove the EGR valve and block off the manifold and intake. You would need to also remove the EGR solenoid and disable tyhe function in the ECM else you will have a constant Check Engine Soon light any time you drive. There is always some heated debate over the possibility of damaging the engine if the EGR system is disabled, so I won't make any comments on that.

Welcome to the Forum!

If you anticipate better performance with the EGR system removed, you may be disappointed. Sometimes repair can be a lot cheaper than removal.

Try EGR remove in the search function. Be sure to click + archives.

Welcome to the forum.

It would be very helpful if you mentioned the year and engine of your Fiero in your posts. I see the assumption has already been made that you have a V6. If you have a 4-banger, the advice will be differnent (in regards to EGR solenoids, etc).
