All stock. Has high idle. Around 2000 at cold start and 1700 warm, it is very high. I suppose I have a vaccum leak somewhere. The EGR is blocked off. It is leaking a little bit under the egr. Mahbe the gasket is worn. Could this be the cause? I have read other threads and tried a few things but cant come up with anything. Thanks

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Have you used any vapor to see where it's being sucked into the intake at? EGR, MAP, and cruise control lines are all common places for leaks to occur. The rubber lines drying out and cracking is not uncommon on the 25+ year old cars.

Thanks for the response. I did on a few lines but I guess I am just unsure as to where exactly I am to spray. Could this possibly be because of a leaking egr? Or the gasket. I can feel a tiny bit of air

Did you remove the EGR tube? How did you block it off under the upper intake?

Did the previews owner also use a gasket between the metal plate and the manifold? Lack of a gasket would let air sneak by. I just changed the EGR tube on the 88 and I swear I could not see a leak, but it sure did fix the problem. It takes only a really small leak to mess up the idle.
