This is trivial, but important.
For the '88 V6, I've found three drawings showing the distributor-to-plugs wiring, and they're different!

I just need confirmation as to the location of the distributor PIN ONE with respect to the screw. Looking down at the right-hand screw, is ONE toward the front of the car? Or rear?

Thanks!

Depending on how the distributor was installed it could be any of the towers. So you took off all the wires and you don't know which one is one? Take out plug one (by the alternator) and have someone stick their finger into the spark plug hole. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the assistant says air is coming out of the hole. Then continue forward until the timing marks line up. The rotor is now pointing to the spark plug tower that needs to be connected to the #1 spark plug. The rest of the wires go on the dist in a clockwise order using the firing order 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6. Watch out, it is really easy to get the plug wires switched on the front bank.
