Apparently I haven't kept up to date on such things, but I checked eBay and there are a number of fuel pump repair kits available for under $50, including one made by Delco. It comes with a new pump and other parts which will allow you to rebuild the assembly.

Be careful.

Should I be ticked off that the fuel pump I received is not what I ordered?

The fuel pump is available through most parts stores, but i have yet to find an assembly with the floater and fuel level sender.

That's the one I bought for my '88 2.5L. Worked perfectly...no issues with electrical. Plugged right in. The vent line points down, so you either need a slightly longer hose, or gently bend it straight.
