I was working on getting my spare cradle ready for my L67 swap and came across these thin plates tacked onto the top of the bushing mounting surface.

The oem bushings have a steel plate that sits on this plate, but I will be installing poly bushings that do not have such a plate on them and I am wondering if theses plates are even needed when using poly bushings.Once welded on, these plates form a rust trap so I would rather not use them. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

I have two cradels sitting here and both have thos on top. Mine are welded on very securely, so I think you will need them. Larry

If yothe are worriedthe about rust, prime and paint both the plate and the cradle and use some sealant to stick them together and seal the mating surfaces from water.

Hi Guys and thanks for the replies. I didn't think about using an adhesive. That is a great idea. I bet POR 15 would fit the bill to coat and secure the plate/cradle. Its tough as nails and an excellent rust sealer!
Thanks again.
