Before I look into buying a new Tach, is there anything I should try first to fix it? Is there a tach filter on an '88 2.5l? If so, where?

There is no tach filter on an 88 Duke. Check out http://www.fieros.de/en/articles/tach.html I had to do this to the wife's Duke, Dukes don't cruise at 4500 RPM. I adjusted the tach using my scanner
