I'm having trouble getting hptuners to connect to the car. It has worked the past two times, then I was poking around under the dash moving wires around looking for the alarm system the po installed. Since then it says that it can't locate the vcm and to make sure te cable is connected and the key is in run. It worked on my neighbors work truck so the rules out the cables. Any idears?

Look at it at the PCM not under the dash.

The PCM needs +12 switched on pins 19 & 68 Blue. That's it for switched power. Then the only other pins needed to scan are +12 unswitched on 20 Blue, the grounds and 59 to pin 2 of the OBD2 connector.

Then check your OBD2 connector for unswitched +12 on pin 16, grounds on pins 4 & 5, and the data on pin 2.

That is all that is needed.

I'm pretty sure the obdII works as its giving power to the interface as the power light on the interface lights up. I will look at the power at pins 19,20 and 68 at the PCM.

KOEO 19,68,20 have power as you said. Here's a weird thing I used to have power to pin 2 from pcm 59 on the Obd and now I don't, all I get is a flash of power every few seconds.

Well got the compatable service numbered PCM from the wreckers today and installed it. Same problem with no power coming from blue pin 59 going to obdII pin 2.

A guy on hpt said that there should be no power to pin 2 iys just a data for communication. So what I did all day was, I pulled every wire from the connectors to untangle the mess of wires and label them. Then I hooked them back up and voila hpt connected.

Well it was working for the past little while but now it won't connect to hpt. could it be something in the key area? Or could it be in the coil pack at the icm? The reason I ask is I had the coil pack out to remount and since then it won't connect.

I think it might have something to do with the ignition lock cylinder, I kept turning the key slowly forward and used my code reader intil it read then I was able to connect to hpt. The thing with the cylinder is tht it's at the very end of the stroke before it finally contacts and starts. Think that's a possibility and what will fix it? A new cylinder or something else in the?
