hi guys,
i looked but could not find a how-to to remove the shifter handle. 85-automatic. on the dash side of the shifter is an opening with nothing there, and under the button is a metal tab. i didnt want to pull the tab because i dont know if it slides toward steering wheel or pulls down. then what is attached to the button-springs,etc?
thanks

I think theres a shiny metal ' U ' clip in that slot in the front (facing the dash). You can use a tiny screwdriver or needlenose to pry it straight out towards the dash and the handle should just lift off. Prob be easiest if you move the shifter all the way back.
