I am going to be putting the Grand Prix (Snake head) Shift Knob into my build car. The car will have a built 3800SC. My question is... Should I put in the knob with the performance shift button or the one without? I can just wire the performance shift to be on all the time by grounding it but will the button benefit me in any way vs just being on all the time? Opinions please!

If you have the button wire it in.

A knob with a switch that doesn't work is in bad taste.

You have an automatic. You need something to keep your right hand busy.

I don't have the knob yet but I have the option of buying either knob (with or without button) at the same price. Just trying to figure out which one to actually buy.

Depends on if you are using two sets of shift points in the PCM. If you are only going to use performance, you can ground it. You could also wire a switch anywhere that you could toggle to get the same grounding of the PCM. I've had a few different shifters around...

I personally don't care for the "snake head" shift handle. The stock type Fiero "T-handle" design shifter has always been the most comfortable to me, both in the Fiero and also in the few Trans Am's I've owned.
