So im getting ready to install a new lock cylinder in the drivers door of my 87 GT, and I was wanting to know how do I get the cylinder rekeyed, or get the right one. The key has a "D" stamped in it near the top. Can the dealer do this? Where should I get the tumbler?
You can also just put in one or two of the sets. Just put your key you want to use in the lock and drop in the little pieces in one hole one at a time until you find a set in one hole that will allow that key to open it. Then that key will work but most other types probably will not. Larry
The linkage to the driver's door key tumbler has come off on my '88 GT. It is a bit hard to see inside even with the inner door panel off. Is there a fastener that holds it on to the tumbler, or is it a type of 'keyed' fit connection?
