So im getting ready to install a new lock cylinder in the drivers door of my 87 GT, and I was wanting to know how do I get the cylinder rekeyed, or get the right one. The key has a "D" stamped in it near the top. Can the dealer do this? Where should I get the tumbler?

You can get replacement GM lock sets from any parts store and any key shop can rekey them to match your orig. if you want.
Old GM's are no big deal.

When I bought my Fiero it didn't come with the door/trunk key. I just bought a tumbler set from The Fiero Store. Comes with keys.

I just took the tumblers out of my truck, so any similar GM key will work in my door locks, my fiero key, my grand prix key ect.

You can also just put in one or two of the sets. Just put your key you want to use in the lock and drop in the little pieces in one hole one at a time until you find a set in one hole that will allow that key to open it. Then that key will work but most other types probably will not. Larry

The linkage to the driver's door key tumbler has come off on my '88 GT. It is a bit hard to see inside even with the inner door panel off.
Is there a fastener that holds it on to the tumbler, or is it a type of 'keyed' fit connection?

Thanks for the help.
