My steering boot on the drivers side has a small tear in it. How difficult is this to replace? Just wondering what is underneath the boot and how it comes off of the tie rod.

Thanks

You have to remove the outer tie rod and the clamp on the bigger end of the boot. Then just wiggle it off. If you have any rust or grease built up on the tie rod, it will have to be scraped off to slide the boot off because the small end is a pretty tight fit. Be sure to mark where the nut is on the tie rod for reassembly, or get an alignment afterwards. If you are replacing both, the passenger side is a little trickier. You have the dampener to remove also.

^ What he said.

Would highly recommend the boots from TFS...the ones from the parts houses (including Rockauto) were completely wrong, no way they would fit. Good price, too. Steering boots
