The Dashboard lights in my Fiero dont work. The only thing that happens, when I turn on the headlights the clock on the dash goes off. When the headlamps are off the clock works. any opinions. Do anyone know where I can get a schematic for the electrical system, showing the relays?

@nightmarecruiser- the fuses are fine, we checked them. the bulbs are working good, we tested each one. possibly think the relay is bad or the switch is bad. thanks

Check the dash lights dimmer for an open. The power is routed through the dimmer and then to the lights. The radio goes dark because the display is supposed to dim when you turn on the lights. My money is on the dimmer.

But before you do anything else, make sure the dimmer isn't turned all the way down.

I recently changed the cluster in mine and now have the same problem. It is in the printed circuit floppy thing on the back side of the cluster. so now I have to take it back apart and change that from my original cluster on to the one that all the gauges work. If you dont find the problem elsewhere you might check that out. you can take the cluster out, trace the circuit from the lights to the place where the plug goes to see if you put power to the right circuit if you get lights. remember to atach a ground at the plug also.

Your in good company. I had same problem several days ago. Discovered the dimmer wheel was not in the brightest position. Made it appear that the radio light went off when putting on the headlights.

I had the same issue when I got my Fiero and my gauges also didn't work. The electrical connectors to the dash circuit board were dirty and corroded, also the connections to the bulbs themselves were dirty. I cleaned them up real nice and all is good now.
