I’d like to make a request. I really enjoy trying to bring my years of experience as both a mechanic and a Fiero specialist but it’s much easier to help if you post the year and engine of the car when you make a post asking for technical help. Randy A.K.A. Firejo
And instead of saying "replaced all sensors", specify exactly what you replaced. "All" is hard to believe literally and leaves people guessing what you mean by it.

ok, I get what youall are saying.. but remember not everyone that drives and enjoys these cars. are car mechanics nor do they always know the correct terms.. but because this car might be their toy/hobby they are willing to work on it, unlike say the daily driver, family truckster or simply are learning yes some titles are vag, or missleading.. but some might not know that just because they all had 2.5 4 cyl aval all years that there was changes.. like any day of the week for a mechanic ,some times you have to pick the owners brain to get an answer that help you fix their car and help them.. even the car guy sometimes forgets to put all the needed info in the post, to get a useable answer.. I've done it, and I know better.. lots of post are made asking questions after a long day at work, in front of the computer, with a wobbly pop or two . and info gets missed..

Well, I tried to simplify that by just putting my engine/trans in my signature line, but the sig line doesnt come up automatically like it should.
------------------ I have a 1987 Fiero, 4 cylinder 5 speed.
Bump what Sardonyx said. Look at the first page of today's posts! Put [i]something[i] descriptive in the title! I always use the search function before I pick the brains of the members. Many of the current posts would never appear in my search, even if they were right on point!
nothing fairer than that. I know I always ask few questions but i do try to detail what i have done and my findings so that A it is the right procedure and B it may help other people with any dilemas that they encounter

The other problem with that is a person can't really assume the car in the signature is the car you're having trouble with. Signatures can be out of date, people have multiple cars, you might be helping with a car that isn't yours, etc. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't find signatures reliable for this kind of thing. I take them more as entertainment than a source of serious information, and due to their frivolity I even have them disabled on some forums. If something is pertinent to the problem at hand, it really should be directly stated at the time of the problem rather than left to be assumed from a sig. Just my opinion, not trying to dictate anything here.
Of lesser importance, signatures probably aren't included in the search function.
I would like to say going off of some of the above items that were mentioned...
Don't use your signature as the way to tell individuals what your car is. It is nice and all to put that information in your thread, but for one, you could be a subsequent poster in a thread and confuse individuals if you have the same problem but a slightly different Fiero model than the OP. Two, per the forum recommendations you should only post your signature ONCE in a thread. And finally - as mentioned some way above - that information could be outdated or the OP could be referring to another Fiero entirely.
And please, please, PLEASE, put a proper thread title on the title. PLEASE DO THIS. I have pretty much stopped clicking on threads that have "now what...", " 'nother problem", etc, etc. That tells us NOTHING. Even if you are a frequent thread topic starter in tech, always put the year, model, and problem in the title, and then repeat that information (and add to it) in the opening post. People REALLY need to understand how utterly important this is. Users can search the forum by both subject/topic and actual characters in posts. If the information in the title mirrors the first post and vise versa, then it makes searching for things A WHOLE LOT EASIER. Most of the search issues people have on PFF is due to poster's inability to properly set up their threads to be searchable. And per the above it's not hard to do.
I hear ya. I simply ignore pointless posts in the topic section. Some times I will check one out out of morbid curiosity kind of like the "I'm feeling lucky" button on the Google page.
I agree. 86 GT, 2.8 5speed (or whatever you have question on) then state what the question is. I don't mind browsing random post that I have no idea what there about, Its a good way to get my mind off other stuff and SOMETIMES interesting to here others opinions. I don't like when I see a problem I had to deal with before just to open post and see its a 3800 or something I've never had. Anybody ever post something to help and you were completely off subject because the OP stated it wrong, Then I feel like an idiot lol
