Hey been having a problem with my fireo not starting sometimes which recently gotten worse..
tried start it today and first time it clicked and the other times i tried nothing happened. so i measured the voltage on the battery and to the started both got 12,26
so then after that i brought out the battery charger and connected it but before i connected the power to the charger i tried to start it and everything worked fine..

measured the voltage again and got 12,6 for both the battery and starter...

please come with suggestion about what to do about this problem i can come out the the car and it won't start and come back anything from 5 mins later to a couple of hours and it works fine again and the other way around...

Check the connection of the battery cable at the starter. Make sure it is tight. Check the battery terminal connections and the ground from the battery to the engine block too. Check the condition of the battery cables.

Does it crank good all the time and just not start, or does it crank slow or not at all?
My first thought would be corroded or loose wires to the starter /battery/ ground.
Second involves a question, does it start fine when the engine is cold, and hard if it is hot, as in recently parked? That woudl tell me possibly worn out starter.

Changed the ground cables and all positive cabels last summer except for the engine grund since i couldn't and the cables connections to the starter seems fine since I am not losing any voltage.
Sometimes when I added a charger to the battery it cranks slowly before it starts

Today it's been a week since last time I started it and it wouldn't start last time I had been driving for more than an hour stopped at the store 5 mins tops and nothing happend.

But a bit more than 50% of the time it start perfectly fine.

So now i changed both the chassi ground and engine ground and the problem still persists. I put the chassi ground to the screw where the trunk is mounted to and the engine ground to the back of the engine block, is there any other ground i need? the wiring diagram says it's 3 ground from the battery where does these go?
any engine to chassi ground i missed which might cause this?

the car wouldn't start yesterday i think the starter clicked the first time then nothing except from a quite click from some kind of relay close to the engine i think, could that have anything to do with it?

I had the same problem got worse and wouldn't start- my friend Dan saved me as usual- some how the alternator had produced to much juice and fried some of the wiring- he replaced, the alternator, computer. ignition module and a few ground straps- now it starts great
