The Fiero fuel tank has two outlets on the back of it, one is the fill hose and is lower down and larger, whats the smaller one above and to the left for?

Yep, you are right Odin. The vent tube attaches back to the fill tube right behind where you put gas in your gas hole. The filler tube and vent come out as one piece. Just had mine out to clean the surface rust and put a coat of paint on and replace the rubber hoses. Pain in the butt removing and reattaching those hoses.
