Ok so I recently bought an 88 fiero se 4 cylinder automatic... So I'm wanting to do the smart thing and do a tune up. Looking at it. it looks to have a distributor cap that the plugs go on to. So I go to my father's parts store and in both book and online catalog shows that for that year should have a coil pack instead and that 86 was the last year for them to have a cap and then 87-89 had the coil packs... How can this be cause I'm the third owner and the first two say they never changed out the engine??

First, verify that you have a 1988 Fiero with the VIN. The 10th character should be a 'J'.

edit: use the VIN under the windshield, not numbers found on body panels.
