OK.....
I just detonated a rear hub on my 86 GT 2.8 4 spd.
I call Autozone for a new axle nut and washer (had a spare bearing)
$4.99 for the nut
$15.99 for the washer??????????????????????????
What gives? It must be hardened but $16 bucks?

Hmmmm.....a single $1 washer, to my door, would cost me $34.93 (only sold in a pack of 5...cheapest shipping to Canada)

Hope I'm not in the market for one anytime soon.....

I have replaced NEITHER on dozens of cars and never had a problem. I might see why someone might want to replace the nut, but the washer? It's a round, flat piece of metal with a hole in the middle, nothing more.

I have always reused the washer but on this car when I removed the nut there was NO washer.
Who ever worked on it before me must have forgotten or lost it and figured "what the hell"
Found one that fir in my hardware draw. It was hardened too, Hope it works?

The front one is even harder to find. It's a keyed washer, and the local stores don't even offer it near me.
