I have a chance to buy a complete Buick Lasabre, 3.8 n/a with 4T60 trans. The vin number is 1G4HP5313N475681. Does the vin tell the year and the final drive ratio? It's supposed to be a '90 or '91. How DO you tell the final drive ratio?

I dont think the VIN will tell you final drive ratio.

That's going to be a series 1 engine... roughly similar performance to a 3.4 V6. IMO, you'd be better off looking for a series 2 engine.

I was just going to use the transmission behind my 3.4 hybrid. I was thinking somewhere in the 3.73 number. My Blazer has 3.73's and in overdrive it's turning 2,000 at 60 which is very good for mileage.
