Had the volt meter climb higher and higher til it pegged. Only came down a tad when headlights were on. Had alternator checked in car by Autozone. Came back failed diodes. By time I got alternator replaced it fried my radio which looses the station after a few minutes now. Gage still pegged with turn signals causing the Fiero familiar slight dip with turn signal flashing. New alternator checks out okay. Any ideas? Could I have fried the gage also? All other gates work fine except for stupid oil gauge which reads right every now and then (guessing it's the sensor)

I'd check the engine ground straps and connections.
