Meet the MWFC clubs!
Midwest Fiero Clubs is a dedicated group of enthusiasts whose passion is to promote and preserve the Pontiac Fiero and the Fiero Community. MWFC has organized and facilitated Anniversary Fiero Events. The Midwest Fiero clubs is a joint effort consisting of multiple Fiero clubs. In this post we are featuring one of those clubs, Heartland Fieros of Iowa.
Heartland Fieros was started 20 years ago this summer by a small group of friends and Fiero owner / enthusiasts in southeastern Iowa. The first club meeting was held in Springville Iowa and several charter members are still active in the club today. We welcome any and all configurations of Fieros. We have members with high mileage daily drivers, modified Fieros, Fieros under construction, stock Fieros, showroom condition Fieros, and rare prototype Fieros. We have members in the Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Keokuk and Davenport areas in Iowa, and the Moline area in Illinois, and welcome new members throughout the region. We are a very informal club with most communication via facebook or email. We have no annual dues and welcome anyone with an interest in Fieros is to join.
Heartland Fieros biggest event is the annual car show which has been held for 16 years, from 2004-2019, in the Village of East Davenport in late August or Early September. The Festivities usually begin on Friday evening with a group dinner at a Quad Cities restaurant to catch up with our Fiero friends. The Car Show is held on Saturday and is the only points judged show in the MWFC show circuit. For the first 15 years, after the show, all participants have been invited to the home of Fred Bartemeyer Jr. and Annette Wilson (now Bartemeyer) for a barbecue cook out/potluck dinner and bonfire for great conversations, and the occasional fireworks display. In 2019 after the 16th annual show the cook out was dropped in lieu of dinner at a local restaurant with a drive in movie after. Current events have postponed the plans for our newly formatted show until 2021 (which would have been #17) and the celebration of the club's 20th anniversary.
Heartland Fieros Club puts on an annual Car Show, organizes a Winter / Holiday get together, and has held spring and / or fall cruises when time allows. Cruises in the past have included scenic river road cruises, fall leaf tour cruises, a Route 66 cruise, and club cruises to other automotive events.
Fred Bartemeyer Jr. serves as our Club Chairman / President, and we currently have 3 Regional Activities Directors; John Holmes - Quad Cities area, Mark Nicklaus - Iowa City Area, and Dan Moffatt - Cedar Rapids area. Dan also serves as our club webmaster.
Heartland Fieros welcomes anyone with an interest in Fieros to join, simply let one of the club officers know through Heartland Fieros on Facebook, at heartlandfieros.com, or by email and we will add you to our roster and include you in all Club e-mail correspondence. We encourage participation in planning events, especially for our annual car show as we depend on the volunteer efforts of our club members to make these events happen.
