Blakeinspace started a thread concerning the Texas Caravan to the 35th so I thought it might be a good idea to start a general caravan thread for all those wanting to hook up and drive in together regardless of the route. So here it is....start your planning!!
I'll be leaving from Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Thursday morning going down interstate 380 to Interstate 80 then east to Peoria, it's about a 3 hour drive my place. Anyone is welcome to hop on or let me hop into your caravan if your coming through the area (wink wink nudge nudge Mn. mafia ).
I was involved with the West Coast caravan to the 20th and it was a great time along with a peace of mind to have backup in case something happened.

Here are my current plans for St Louis on up... Wednesday the 8th!
If you are mostly just interested in the cruise to Peoria... the loose plans at this point have us looking at a noon ferry crossing at Grafton, just north of Saint Charles MO. We would follow the Illinois River on state-100 most of the way. If you don’t want to do the ferry ($8)... I think we know someone that wants to join us in Hardin IL.

I know of two different caravans in Michigan. One is starting in western MI, towards Grand Rapids. The other is in the metro Detroit area. Neither group has given o much information yet though.
It takes 2.5 days to make that drive from northern CA using the northern route. Tiring. Maybe easier to take the southern route. Had to use chains in one section, because I made the drive in the winter. Probably should arrive the day before you want to be there, so you can have a good night's sleep first.

You guys will be within about 5 miles of my house when you pass through Champaign. If you all want to stop by, you are more than welcome. It would be cool to line the entire cul-de-sac with Fieros! There is a gas station within 1.2 miles of the house with 93 octane and E-85 heading back toward I-74.

Will call you as time gets closer and probably meet up to drive down. Anyone else in the Minnesota area heading down / through Minneapolis on Wednesday?

we are almost ready to go, final things to pack up and we will be on our way. Two day trip for us because of the kids. If you see a Red Grand Caravan and dark Green Fiero on the highway from Ontario, that is us! We will be crossing in Sarnia and taking I 69 down to I 94. Stop in New Buffalo MI for the night and continue the drive Monday after a brief stop at a Washington Park Zoo for the girls.
Everyone have a safe drive and see you all in East Peoria in a few days EH!!
