I had a minor problem with my oil pan and had to replace it. I have NAPA's purple oil and their best quality filter in it and it probably only has a dozen or so hours on it. I saved it in a clean container and was intending to put it back in and top it off with more of the same oil. I was going to put in 5 quarts total.

Do you think it is alright to use this "nearly new" oil?

Should be no problem at all. As long as the container, as you said it was, was clean. As a further measure, you can use a paint funnel / strainer to pour it through to make sure there are no contaminates in it. Even without it, as you said the container was clean so it should be no problem.

+1 on the paint strainer. You should be fine to re-use it

Provided it is not old oil that sat (like in the crankcase for two years) ; if you have a dozen hours of use on that oil, it should be perfectly fine to be re-used.
