I have a 2000 buick park ave I bought a few years ago for the 3800 and trans. Right now I'm between jobs so what better time to get the drivetrain pulled for the scrapyard? Problem is the thing is so packed with goodies I don't remember what all needs pulled to get the goodies working haha. It has the self dimming mirror, HUD, cruise control and I was curious about keeping the lumbar guts if they might fit under a fiero seat skin. I already have the motor pretty much ready to be pulled except the cv axles, motor mounts and exhaust. The temp sensor was easy of course which is in a box for later. Could I maybe reuse the fans for something later like decklid vents? Will the lumber work under a fiero seat skin? I'd like to keep the bcm also but what all do I need to pull to make all that work before it goes bye bye? Also could I make the dusk to dawn sensor work in an fiero so the lights are automatic? Locations of parts, tips and tricks are all appreciated!

Not sure what all is involved in the dusk to dawn sensor, and wiring it. a great plug and play solution for automatic headlights can be FOUND HERE.

I know you probably know, but you never mentioned the ECM, grab that as well. Also as much of the wiring harness as possible, so you have all of the plugs necessary to make a new conversion if you plan to do it, or donate them to the harness builder for a few bucks off of one from them.

I doubt the lumbar would be a simple job. If you could do it, I bet it would be a LOT of time and effort fabricating it.
Good Luck!

I know bout your plug and play kit and I want to get one in the future for my car. The only reason I'm asking about the one in the park ave is in my mind it should be hooked into the bcm somewhere along the line which the bcm mod is for my wife's car. If they already can get along in the buick I would like to keep it all together. The lumbar idea was just a pot shot for my car which needs new covers any way and I have a bad back lol

Edit to add: I already snagged the ecm in the engine bay for the swap thanks for mentioning it though it helps to remember other things I may have left out. That was one of the first things taken out for fear of damaging it in anyway since we both have a foul temper and I tend to hulk smash things when I get frustrated.

Does anyone have all data to locate a bcm pinout for a 2000 buick park avenue ultra? I can't seem to find a pinout or any info if the bcm operates the same as the f bomb ones do. If they have the same operational parameters I can figure out how to wire it up the same as the camarobird ones that are proven to work.

GMtuners (Sinister Performance) pinout chart for your swap is located HERE.
They also offer parts you will need for the harness conversion, and reprogramming services for the swapped ECM. Get the service number from the white label on the ECM, and look for it on the list at the link above. There are many charts at the above link, so if your ECM is not on the first list, look around on their site, or contact them directly.
Pull and save as much of the harness as possible, and keep all connectors, relays, fuses, and switches if possible, and avoid cutting the harness if possible. Long wires are more useful than short ones when building a harness. Mark every connector with a label so you know what sensor, module, switch it came from.

Bump to top. Need to get this thing stripped and to the junkyard asap and don't want to overlook anything important. Thanks for the link that helped a lot with the swap end of things. I lost a lot of my bookmarked websites when my last phone gave out.

How do I tell if the radio Is a monsoon or not? It has the concert 3 sound system but I doesn't literally say monsoon on it? Is that a given on all monsoon radios or just the cars that were sportier with a monsoon that said it on the front?

Monsoon radios generally have an additional amplifier located on the trunk firewall, or rear quarter panel. Also 6-8,or so, speakers. Some of those speakers are also labeled “Monsoon”.

The concert 3 system has 9 total speakers. All four doors are mid range the front dash has 2 midrange and a high range in the center. The back window ledge has 2 subs in it with the amplifier under the drivers side sub. I guess Ill do some pulling today haha. Just figured I would post what little I do know it has. If it helps anybody in the future all park ave ultras have the concert 3 system. If I find anything labeled monsoon I will post back

Sorry to anyone awaiting an answer if anything was monsoon related. Didn't get to do much of anything today. Shortly after I made the last post I got a call to go round up cattle so I had to run my wife to go do that. Then had a four hour dentist appointment just to find out I need full dentures and my wife needs half dentures... Pretty crap day imo...

Ok so I got the hud unit out today, home link and radio. No mention of monsoon so far... There is a black box next to the dimming mirror. Is it a compass sensor or something else? I want the auto dim mirror with the temp and compass to work properly.

The black box by the mirror could be the rain sensor for windshield wipers....
