My 86 v6 SE has an angine knock and I'd *really* rather have someone qualified do a swap for me rather than sell it or donate it.

Any ideas?

I'd be happy to help you out!

Of course, I'm not exactly what you'd call mechanically gifted so I won't warrant my results. (There might not even BE results.) I'd still be willing to supervise. All I'd ask from you is a plane ticket, nice hotel lodging and all the iced tea I can drink.

You might want to specify what you want swapped in.

Swap or engine replacement. Who ever does a swap with an entirely different engine that the car came with will spend 50-100 hours of labor doing it with a load of fabrication parts + the engine cost. . If its just an 2.8L/3.4L engine change it can be done in three days of labor. Point is to expect a big difference in labor costs. If you have a good replacement engine, I know guys not far from here (NJ) that will do it for around $1500.

If you are planning to consider a V6 2.8 L exchange, why not use the 3.4 push rod block? You will get a few more HP with an identical look and what I consider to be a better engine because of the oiling.

The only Fiero specialists I know are BMW Guru here on the forum, and this guy:

http://fieroservice.com/index.html

He's done work on mine, and I never had a problem. Both guys are extremely knowledgable, but probably much further than you want to go.
