I found some temp control slider knobs in Chrome so o picked them up. I tried to remove the 2 existing knobs but they just wouldn't come off! Is that normal? Is there a trick to removing them? Did the previous owner happen to lock tight them on? I'm confused!!

The slider that goes from 'hot' to 'cold'?

They just pull off with a bit of force. Use a flat head screw driver and pry it off, stick a paper towel or something under the screwdriver to prevent damaging the face.
