I tell the younger guys "If you get something with real power, you don't need to prove anything." A guy down the street had a 95-97 Z28 and drove fast on our residential street- I told him he doesn't have anything to prove.....Then again, a guy down the street the other way has a clapped-out Civic w/AT...He comes racing up to the corner, slams to a stop and then makes the turn...as he straightens out, he has less than 150 feet till the next stop sign...but EVERY MORNING he floors it and revs it as high as he can go, then skids to a stop....And he thinks he is impressing everyone....Of course, like Harley guys revving at every stop, they are NOT impressing anyone, but are showing their lack of self-esteem......I have a Harley sign I modded that says "Viagra is cheaper".......

Agreed. The behaviors you mention are not a drag race, this is being very stupid and annoying. Take it to the track - save the exceleration (0-the speed limit) for on ramps, commercial industrial areas and of course the track.

That's what I do. Only time I drop the right foot. Besides, they're normally downhill, so my car actually feels like it's fast! 😀

I always assumed that was so it wouldn't stall.

It is up there with if not worse than a DUI I'm not going to lie, I was there that night and I had run once that night, i would have been well deserving of that ticket but thankfully I was spared, these days I dont get involved in those things, I have a C6 corvette, A mera and an IMSA, I know what they can do so I dont give into the BS these kids want, sure ill play with the cars a lil on and open highway Butnot out of reason, In fact growing ever closer to 30 I now see why I love daily driving my little 2015 corolla, Its got the stones to get out of its own way, great on gas reliable and best of all, No one expects anything of you in it, Its nice pulling up to a red light and not being looked twice at by some punk in a mustang,

I have a 640 hp lambo kit in one of my fieros. It's surprising how often I get challenged by someone who doesn't stand a chance. I love driving my minivan when I'm tired of the constant attention.

I just figured they all suffer from ADHD... and it's the only way they can stay focused.
