Ran the car at the 100' dash during street machine weekend, the local yearly car event.
Alberta guys will know what the 100' is about, but it's essentially a timed 100' run. Qualified #1 in my class with a new personal best of 1.975 at 57.78 mph and backed it up with a 2.028 at 59.29 mph, joining a very elite number of cars to run under 2 seconds. Snapped an axle in the finals so never got the chance at the trophy, but walked away with the hard luck award.
Good job man. It was cool to see you run in the autox too! I never got to come by and say hi before you left. How'd you do in the ultimate street car challenge?
Thanks guys, car is a lot of fun and surprises a lot of people, they are even more surprised to see a v6 in the back.
Have not seen the final results yet, they only announced top 3 at the awards during the car show. Hopefully they post the results online. Car is definitely not setup for autocross, but it was a pile of fun throwing it around out there. Think I got a 69.xx with the 1 cone penalty, so could have been a 67.xx.
How did you do in autocross? Car looks awesome, that front end is perfect.

I missed the top 5 final in my class by .6 of a sec in the first round. I think I ran a 67 on my best run. I really need to get some wider tires on the back. 225 is just not enough on these cars. If you ran under a 70 on that course you did good. Most didn't crack that time. Best time was a 58 I think. Run by a Solstice GXP.
Watching the tesla around the course was pretty impressive. He's been to a few drag events this year, but seeing it accelerate, brake and turn, really puts the cars performance in perspective. Wasn't even the owner driving, and I'm not sure that Steve had ever driven it before.

You guys have all that room up there, and all you race is 100'? Also, kinda funny it's not metric.
Anyway... jokes aside, sweet. Looked like your front end was getting pretty light there. I'd think a 100' race would be pretty good even for a stock Fiero... seems to pull real hard to 30MPH.
They posted the results from the 100' and from the autocross. Looks like I ran a 69.x plus the 1 cone, for a time of 71.x. Still nothing as far a uscc results though.
I hadn't heard of much going on up there, that's too bad. I had a lot of good times in lacomb, innisrail and camrose back in the day. Looking like I'm getting rid of mine this fall too. Like to get a turbo regal or grand national so he whole family can enjoy.

Well I don't know about straight, if you watch the video the car went left and ended up half way off the concrete, it spun going into second gear and kicked right, back onto the track. It didn't seem that bad in the car, but at real track when it goes left there's lots of room. Other two runs I got lined up pointed slightly right so it would go down the track straight.

I've never heard of this event, but looks rather dangerous with spectators standing right next to the track. Either one of those photographers could have been run over when your axle broke.

There is a concrete wall and a return road between the car and all spectators, the few people that look like they are on the track at bottom of the video are at the concrete. You can't see it as it is behind the divider wall designed to keep people from standing on the ground level, you can't see anything down there so you might as well go up in the grandstand. Everyone in a green shirt is a club member that organizes event. The two photographers have been shooting the event for years, know the risks and are ready to move instantly. It is a pretty well thought out setup, considering it is put together Friday, and run Saturday, then torn down, once a year. Pits are enclosed with fencing and only drivers/crew are allowed in. There are no spectators that can get any where near the running cars.
The car continues to roll normally when the axle breaks, it definitely does not turn. No more risk of hitting anything than a normal run.
