Seen a few reports out there (C&D, Automobile) that the upcoming C8 Vette is to be mid engined. If this is true, then I would think this would be good news for us when some hapless owner gets overly ambitious and sends his car back to the parts bin. As many of you know, we are short on affordable transmissions that can handle the power some of our machines put out. While I know the new Vette would most likely be a longitudinal layout I can't help but think of the possibilities for the Fiero. What do you think?

I would imagine the drivetrain package would be difficult to fit within the stock Fiero engine bay without a wheelbase stretch. If one were to take the plunge and do a frame stretch to accommodate a longitudinal drivetrain layout, I would think there are already some affordable options compared to a brand new C8 setup. That's not to say it wouldn't be awesome to see it dropped into a Fiero.

No, the car will have pretty much nothing in common with the Fiero. Any parts off the current Corvette are equally as usable as pretty much anything on a new RMR Vette would be.

The trans probably won't be as expensive as the higher end Porsche options are, but it won't be as cheap as some other options either.
