Street Machine Weekend was this past weekend in Lethbridge, Alberta. Quick Times Magazine was on site and captured this picture of my car launching at the 100' dash event. Thought it was pretty cool.

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

Car ran a 2.05 second 100' time. (Ran 2.27-2.35 when car would 60' in the 1.54-1.56 range). Qualified for the finals in second behind a 427 SB2.2 nascar headed Camaro that ran a 2.05. (He was 2nd place in 2011 drag week bbna as well). In the finals I ran a 2.2 to his 1.95, new best for him there. Car was too hot from previous round, I had no ice to cool intercooler, and tried launching harder and spun a bit. Pretty happy, car performed awesome, didn't break, and drove home with my son after.

Friend of mine filmed the two qualifying runs. First was the 2.06, second I left on less boost and didn't go full throttle until part way down track. Didn't want to break and miss the finals, still ran a 2.14

Unfortunately the engine seems to be hurt from overheating last year. Falls over in third gear. Went to track in June and ran 10.5 at 128 as best. Another run I ran same setup that had run 131 mph in 2012 and it only went 123, it is definitely not happy and pushing oil from the breather. Guessing the rings are not sealing any more. Driving it as is for now, until I can swap the engine out later. Kind of disappointed as I finally have a trans that is holding together, and now the engine is not performing. Enjoying driving it this year though, been a few years since I've been able to put a bunch of miles on it, and the boy can ride in it now as well, makes it that much better. He likes when the scan tool shows 100% throttle lol.

Nice to see and we have a Nipple Nose that runs around here saying you cannot do a wheelie with a stock L36 I used to do all the time and got a kick out of the comments from folks. Rick B

Very cool! Thanks for posting.
So I'm not great with engine codes, L36 means 3800 and yours is turbo and intercooled?

L36 is the naturally aspirated 3800. This one is from a 2002 Regal LS. I built the turbocharger and intercooler setup for it.

Already have another l36 sitting in the garage waiting. Sorry no race engine for me lol .

WHAT you don't have a CO2 fire extinguisher in the car? Just what I would have used if I didn't have any ice available.

Nice show and times though

Nice work man! I was kinda hoping we might cross paths at this years street machine weekend. I'd like to see your setup. I put my car in the auto cross for the first time. I didn't qualify, but it was really fun.

I was planning on running the auto cross, but ended up sleeping in instead lol. Sorry I missed you, I'd like to see your setup as well. Was Trevor running his black fiero in the autocross? I have to get over and iron out a few issues on his 3800SC swap he is doing on his red car.

Yeah, he was there. I never got a chance to compare times with him. Do you do your own tuning? I'm going to need help with that soon, building another engine for mine right now with boost.

Tune my own yes. I don't usually tune other peoples cars, but know a guy who is the only person I would let do mine. He did my duramax, and has fixed a lot of other local tuners "tunes".
