Great pictures 2.5. Its nice to see a car like that actually being driven. I assume it was on its way home from Bloomington Gold which was held in Champaign IL last weekend.

Wish I had had time to dig out the decent camera instead of the (old) cell phone.

I love C1 Vettes! One of these days I'll own one......white with red interior, just like my Bugeye Sprite.

So I know there were some 300 '53s built, all white. It's really rare to come across one, but I just wanted to ask, how do you know for sure that this was a '54? 54's are still quite rare, but I wouldn't know how to tell the 2 model years apart.

There were 300 built in 1953, 3640 in 1954 and 700 in 1955, so mathematically speaking you are more likely to see a '54 than any other early C1 ('53-'55).

30 years from the '54 Vette to the '84 Fiero..... then 30 years from the first Fiero till now. The Vette is celebrating 6 DECADES and we are celebrating 3 DECADES. cool.

When we left Indy on Sunday morning, going north on I-74, we saw LOTS of vettes (many Z-06's) heading south. Maybe when the Fiero convention ended, the Corvette convention was getting started.

I talked to a lady that had a '53 in Lynchburg, Tn years ago in her barn, She was looking to get it restored... She said her husband and her bought it on their wedding day brand new in 1953 in Chattanooga, Tn . I talked to her back in the early 90's, never heard what happened to the car..

Me too. That's what they were built for.

http://www.detroitnews.com/...r-celebrate-60-years

June 30, 2013
Detroit —Larry Courtney is known as the go-to guy for Corvettes.

Courtney, a longtime enthusiast and Corvette club member, said he and his wife, Verna, called on more than 200 Corvette owners in Michigan and Ohio to gather Sunday in a lot near Atwater and St. Antoine to commemorate the car’s 60th anniversary.

By mid-morning, the Warren couple’s year-long planning had already paid off, drawing hundreds of cars, prior to a late-day procession to Belle Isle for a lap around the island.

“It’s really neat,” Courtney, 66, said Sunday from the lot near the General Motors Renaissance Center. “They keep coming in.”

About 60 of the cars on display Sunday traveled in from Flint, where the first 300 Corvettes were produced in 1953.
