Hi all,

Well this is my pride and joy... my 86 GT! Bought back on September 5th, 2011 and ive been working on it ever since! Runs well and is in great condition for $1000! So far my first main project was a complete overhaul of the interior. Probably gunna do a paint job next! After that, I should be pretty much ready for the local shows! Hope you all enjoy!

Before (September 5th 2011):

Redoing the Interior (October 15 2011 - October 26 2011):

Interior Finished (As of October 26 2011):

So thats what I have so far! So pretty much what ive done is:

  • Replaced the Headliner
  • Painted all of the Interior Pieces Black (with Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric Spray)
  • Replaced The Carpet
  • Replaced The Seat Covers With Syn-Leather
  • Painted the Bezels Chrome
  • Installed A New Pioneer Single Din Rdaio

Well thats it so far! Hope you all enjoy!

Thanks,
Tony

Looks like you're making some headway there.
That's the way to do it...one section of the car at a time.
When you get to the engine I would suggest changing that dog bone ASAP.
A worn dog bone will accelerate engine & trans mount wear significantly.

Kit

Looks good! Just needs a nice new steering wheel and maybe pedal covers to round out the interior. You say probably paint next, what are your plans for that? I'm partial to the white and blue you have now which looks pretty good in the pictures.

Thanks for your responses guys! Ill definitely be taking your guy's ideas into serious consideration! Btw i was just curious to know, just for future knowledge, how can you tell that the dogbone needs replacing? And yepp definitely gunna stick with the blue on white but gunna get a fresh new paint job to alleviate from all the spider cracks in the paint!

Thanks guys,
Tony

Nice machine!! Yep, blue stripe on white is cool. For the dog bone-maybe one end is just laying on the thru bolt or most of the rubber mount is broke loose. W/motor running, idle up & see if motor rocks hard &/or the metal slams into the bolt or mount. As posted, this action will tear up the tranny or motor mounts. Keep up that work & you'll have a bada$$ ride in no time. Rick

Long Awaited Update!

Well had some free time so I figured I'd give everyone an update on my GT! I'll add pics soon but here's a basic overview of what I've done since the last time I updated!

Legal
  • Finally finsihed the long exhsuting process of getting a "salvage certificate vehicle" titled (Without going throught salvage inspection process! Bonus!), registered, and inspected! (NYS Inspection was $10!)

Interior
  • All LED Interior Lights
  • Added power locks

Engine Bay
  • Removed insulation and painted engine bay black
  • Sanded down and painted plenum and valve covers blue

  • Painted transmission and heat shields silver
  • Added additional ground straps

Engine
  • Fixed vacuum leaks
  • Made my radiator fan run from the relay rather than a switch
  • Made a custom cold air intake

  • Corrected EGR system
  • Retimed engine
  • New Distributor and Coil
  • New Fuel Pump and Filter
  • Dropped Tranny Pan and replaced fluid
  • Flushed coolant system

Exhaust
  • Installed new CAT
  • Wrapped manifolds
  • Replaced destroyed manifold gaskets

In Progress
  1. Began sanding car and will paint white with blue stripe
  2. Refinish wheels
  3. Making a custom shifter bezel
  4. Install engine bay window
  5. Rebuild headlight motors
  6. Replace broken rocker panel
  7. Fix sagging driver door
  8. Pondering ideas about what to do with cracked quarter windows

And Ive Been a Happy Mo Fo with this car! haha

Thanks for checking it out!
Tony

Seen a lot of leaves in that first underhood pic. Probably would be a good idea to pull the blower motor and check the air box for leaves / debis that could be a fire hazard.

Check out this thread http://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...25-1-017521.html#p20

From what I've read These are supposed to be a very good reproduction for quarter windows. Got 'em bookmarked for myself when I get the money.
