Sorry the title is a bit fubar, it wouldn't let me write it out all the way.
{if I have screwed anything up on the post please speak up and let me know, I don't want any screwed up details}
Its that time of year again. Yep the HUGE Arlington Fiero Picnic is coming up quicker than you can believe. June 6th 2009 is the date set for the show this year. Get your cars cleaned up, Cameras Charged Up and Coolers cleared out.
Pics from Last Year are here, http://www.westcoastfieros.com/arlington2k8gallery
The Arlington Washington Fiero Picnic plans are underway we just getting the final tid bits fallen into place, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia guys, and anyone else that wants to come, Get your car cleaned up and drive.

This only affects people using Pre Release versions of Internet Explorer 8 64bit and I think some 32bit variants. To get you even more Fired up, here is a Video made by Steve Simpson from last years shows. Kickin Video of Arlington 2007 However here are the basic Details.
The location is the Arlington Washington Ultralight Airfield. 4796 188th St NE, Arlington, WA 98223 Jet City Fiero's is providing the grounds, and the BBQ's as well as the Crane to take overhead pics of the cars.
You need to bring food and drinks for yourself and your guests. Please leave the booze at home. This is a family event, and we don't want to have to deal with any legal matters drinking booze at an airport on the airfield.
10am till whenever we decide to call it quits, usually around 4pm. This is a great Fiero event, with lots and lots of cars every year.
If you are coming from B.C. or anyplace North of Arlington please visit the above Web page for details on when and where to meet us and caravan down with us. I need people to email me there name and car(s) so that I can forward everyone to Steve to be added to the list of attendee's. There is a link for form submittal or you can email me directly at capt@captfiero.com and I'll forward it on to Steve aka FourPoint9 here on the forum.
If you could also post here if you are coming or not that would be Awesome. The more people see that people are coming the more people want to come and we end up lots more people. Its Great!! I would like us to top 60 Fiero's this year. I know we can do it.
This is simply an awe struck event each year, with loads of cars, it is not a SHOW so if you think your Fiero is too hard done, and not a show car, that just means you'll fit right in. This is a FUN event to get together and chat. Map

Here are a few teaser pics from last year.
So I am going to post a few of the more note full pics, put please see the link to see all the other cool photos.

Yes we were on an Airfield, and this guy kept buzzing in on us. Was kinda neat to watch him do touch and go's all day.

Well, I did some sign up thing that you had posted a few weeks ago. So, yes, I will be going. I have wanted to attend for the past two years. But my poor Fiero was down. Now she runs like a top, and the both of us cannot wait until June 6th. I am staying at my Brother-in-Laws place in Bellevue. Just a hop skip and a jump to Arlington. Hope to see a great turnout, and looking forward to meeting some of you folks. Amy and I. Say hi when you see us.

Sadly the build is not coming along nearly as fast as it should, mostly due to the unbelievable winter we had put me nearly 2 months behind on getting everything together.
I am pretty sure it will be assembled, and drivable but the painting I am not so sure about.
I have had to re-evaluate my spending habits now that I am going to be a dad. My car Play money will rely on what I sell or repair from the car hobby. Check the http://westcoastfieros.com/forum/default.asp?C=3 for some seats and vented hood I just listed. $100cdn, about $85 USD for the pair of seats or the hood.
I had 2 more fiberglass experts over to the house the last few days, I'm sure you'll understand this. They both concluded the nose was done with a foam base wrapped in very thin fiberglass. Done that way to take a bit more abuse and flex. Well it may have when it was new, but the foam is disintegrating, and the entire chin lower lower slip section is going to have to be removed, and he recommended using a formed sheet of wood, sanded to the shape I want then glassed over and replaced on the nose of the car. There is just no way I can finish the car, get it passed local Emissions testing, paint it and have it ready for the show.
You can stop reading here, I am just going on a story about our Cinco De Mayo run up the Fraser Canyon. Or read it if you want to kill some time.
On top of all that I am heading up 3 drives and a Tech session before Arlington for the club. You would love the Canyon run. There are like 1/2 dozen tunnels through the canyon you cruise through, then at the top, we park the cars and take an Air Tram across the Fraser River. I think it is May rd for the Canyon run. Start to Finish its about 250 miles of "real driving" Through the Fraser Canyon, long winding twisty roads, with some awesome long sweeping corners of the mountain. the kind of corner you drop 2 gears, punch it and climb up the side of the mountain, the kind of places where you want to make a U-Turn, go back down and do it again. Radar detectors, GMRS Radio's and GPS devices are recommended. This run will actually Require GMRS radios as there are a few places there is Zero Cell service you don't even have Radio stations, so CD's or loud V8 exhaust is your best music.------------------ 85GT Soon to be 87GT,93 Eldorado 4.9, 5spd Dual O2 Custom Chip, Custom Exhaust. This is for all the guys and gals coming from BC. or Northern Washington.
Arlington Driving Situation The plan for our club will be a bit more stretched out. We are going to have 2 main groups of cars. The people that wish to make the run in a more leisurely pace, and the people that wish to drive in a more spirited manor. We will all drive as a group to and through Customs, however once on the other side, the casual cruiser people will leave first, and the more spirited members will hold back a few mins. Once on the highway, the spirited guys will catch up to and overtake the people checking things out, then, we will all pull off at a rest area on I-5 to make sure everyone is accounted for. Then start the whole process again. Doing it this way, everyone will be together for at least 75% of the time, rather than having 2 distinct groups that never end up within 5 miles of each other. Before you say Well that sounds DUMB, I have heard it from both sides of the fence, members saying they are leaving the club because they don’t want to drive below the speed limit to wait for slower people, and slower people saying they don’t want to come on the runs, because they feel they are always trying to Catch Up to the faster groups. When you have 2 cars, one going 105kph and one going 95kph, on a 1 hour drive, that’s roughly 10km of distance. Worse yet is trying to get either far end of the spectrum of drivers to go 5km under the speed limit or 5km over the limit, just pisses people off. So “Why Can’t Everyone just drive the speed limit” Sounds so simple doesn’t it. When you have a group of 20 cars, it’s bound to happen that some will get caught at lights or stuck in traffic and will need to “Catch Up” or the entire group has to Drive Below the limit or even stop to get everyone back together. It’s not a simple “Speed Limit” issue. It’s a matter of trying to keep the cars together and everyone happy.

Thank's Captain Fiero! That is my red GT right there in front. It really makes me feel good to see it again. Sadly, I sold that particular car several months ago. My new project is an 87 coupe I have had for a while. I hope to see you June 6th if I can get the time off work.

Yep and anyone that is in the Surrey B.C. area that wants to prep there car for the run, we are holding a Tech Session for suspension inspections, tire and wheel, or just plain detailing the cars to make sure they look awesome. I'll also be asking for some help loading the trailer with the gear we are bringing down.
Anyone that wants to either cross customs with our group or join us along I-5 we should have around 20 Fiero's in our caravan heading down the highway together.IP: Logged |

Been discussing the possibility of pulling out the chicken ( I still have no axles and wires connected for the N* ) and hittin' up an Audi Dyno Day and them possibly heading out N to Arlington. Should know more here tomorrow.
I dont see a "start" time for the event tho - am I missing it? [This message has been edited by mcaanda (edited 06-04-2009).] IP: Logged |

Just as a heads-up and reminder, I think they're enforcing the new border rules, so make sure you carry your "paypaz"...

The people from BC are meeting at 5:45am and leaving for customs at 6:15am, with any luck we will get the entire group through by 7-7:30am, which will put us in Arlington at around 9:30am, just in time to grab all the food at the grocery store. (too much hassle with customs if we try to bring all the food from Canada) With the US Buck in the tank, its actually even cheaper to buy it there.------------------ 85GT Soon to be 87GT,93 Eldorado 4.9, 5spd Dual O2 Custom Chip, Custom Exhaust.
