ok....here is how we spent our day at the Haus today.....
8:00am: breakfast
pictures tell the rest of the story.
8:30am: ZZP performance engine on the pallat. 0.020" overbore, L32 rods, etc.
9:00am-10:15am: assembly. I ported the outlet of Saboo's blower case. Opened it up for the intercooler and ported LIM.
11:00am-1:00pm engine installed, topped off and bled fluids, checked all wiring connections, rechecked torque on all bolts.
1:00pm: lunch
2:00pm: on the alignment rack to get the suspension back into spec after cradle removal (we do this on every car)
3:15pm: getting ready to test drive
This was our Thursday at the Haus. The three of us (Shawn, Nick and I) all worked simultaneously to get this project ready for today. Test drives were good, but we are taking it easy on the engine. We still have the "break in" oil in the engine, but hope to build up the mileage in time to get that oil out and the 5w40 Mobil 1 in within the next week. Dyno plans have already been made. Now, we are back on track and I'll post up the progress pics of Andrew's swap tomorrow. Dave

Here are some pics of Andrew's swap we are working on. This is a series 1 with automatic transmission and WCF headers. As of today, the engine is installed, mostly everything is hooked up. (I have installed pics, but they are loaded on my shop's computer. I'll see about posting them up asap) We still have to fabricate the wiring harness and alternator bracket.

The customer supplied drivetrain being prepped and fitted with the headers.
New paint....I chose the shade of blue....hope it is good.
As I said beofre, the installed shots are on my other computer. I was planning on having it 90% done before posting pics, but our timeframe ran a little behind schedule due to a slight setback with one of the prior swaps.
I have a nice group photo of all the swaps in the shop I'll post up later.
It looks just like ZZP's. Sabooo's is already installed. I didn't block off the silencers on his. I'll post up pics of the next blower I'll be porting for my car next week. Dave

I had the chance to take my 3800s/c Fiero to the track last night. I really wasn't happy with the end result. The track was cold and I shifted too late on every shift...hitting the rev limiter. It has been over 10 years since I ran a car and I am obviously out of practice. I'll post the time slip tomorrow, but my reaction time and 60' were pretty decent. I was at the track for 6 hours and ran once. A lot of cars were puking their engines on every other pass. Here is a video (sorry for the poor quality). I ran a 13.5 @ 104mph I'll be taking my V8 next time (probably spring by the time I get any more free time) and Joey wants to take her VR6 and have a night out. Dave
Finally got to take Sabooo's car to the dyno this morning. The car runs excellent. Joey has been driving it all this week to ensure no issues after Sabooo picks it up. Our goal it to build Fieros that can be driven across the country without fail....and still make some power. 364whp and 376tq on the first run 358whp and 379tq on the second run
Did you take your car back to the dyno?, After you put the rockers, ported the LIM and SC and added the N* tb. I curious what kind of power difference that made.
What tires where you running when you took your car to the track ?
I think you and Joey have been working very hard, You should take a little vacation and come to Florida for the Fiero show.

I did take it back to the dyno with the new mods. I was disappointed. It only picked up 20whp, but I found the ported blower I purchased was shot and only putting out 5psi. I since then got a new blower, ported it myself and the car is really alive now and kicking around 10psi. I was going to get it dyno'ed again today with Sabooo's, but I ran short of time. I expect it to be around 300whp now. Dave

That 1/4 time and trap would suggest that you are not making anywhere near 300whp, unless you were really taking it easy after you launched it. Even stock with a tuned 3.8 pulley you could have saw 12's.
I also would not expect big gains from mods unless ragged edge tuning was done to accompany it (tuning such as pulley size / afr / timing)

I was severely out of practice at the track. I waited too long to shift and hit the rev limiter on every gear. I don't get out much and when I do, I don't spend it at the track. The other problem at the track was the traction. I had none. I only was able to make one pass in the six plus hours I was there. The evening was a real disappointment....except for the fact that I got to hang out with my wife and the kids stayed home.

I dont see any reason it shouldnt be 300whp. Try to get another track day in and go out for some trap speed runs.
Also take it easy on those launches, 1.9's are PLENTY fast enough to put up good numbers. The SC/manual swap here in town ran 11's with a 1.9 60.
Also, you should NOT have a rev limiter on that setup. The fuel cut is a VERY bad thing to hit, and typically results in blown motors. RPM's are not going to hurt anything more than horsepower, so for the last few years I have been putting rev limiters to 7000+, and soft spark limiters in around mid 6's. The spark limiter will kill about 50% of your horsepower, but typically you can still accelerate some.
If you have stock springs, then you will most likely never make it far enough to hit either, giving you a natural, and harmless rev limiter in the form of valve float.

I've just had too much going on with Joey being on the road for almost two weeks now. I took a pics here and there as we have been working the past few weeks, but I find I have been answering the phone more than taking pictures lately. Anyway....here are a few of Andrew's blue GT. Driver's side axle for the 4T60e was a drop in-no mod setup. We purchased a new axle shaft from our supplier at a very good price. Passenger side was more involved. I had to source a good outer cv joint from a manual transmission Fiero. We took the cage apart and cleaned out the old grease. Then we repacked it with new grease and installed it onto the axle shaft. Off the top of my head, I think we used one from a Olds Sillouette. The inner joint worked perfectly and the shaft length was perfect. Added new cv clamps to the outer joint and installed the axle.
I installed the alternator and I was disgusted looking at it. I had a really good lunch and I was in a happy mood, so I took the alternator out, took it apart and painted the case to match the engine. I was pretty happy with the end result. I'll have more engine bay pics tomorrow...my camera battery died today and the charger was here at my house.
I also had "Haus of Guru" sweatshirts made up and will be giving them to the owners of the cars we worked on so far.

Here are some pics I had on the shop computer that I saved of Andrew's swap. I got a little creative with the dogbone to make room. (the alternator is just resting in the bay for the pic...other stuff had to be done under it at the time.)
quick question, (or 2) what ind of power can you get from a series 1, basically stock with a few bolt on's and are they easier than series 2 or 3? thanks al

I found the series 1 swap to me much more challenging than the series 2 and series 3 we are more accustomed to doing. There were a lot of variables that changed the way we had to set up the engine. With the WCF headers, we were sure to add heat sleeve to the ignition wires and some of the cooling hoses that were near the headers. All in all, I wish we had more time to test out the swap and ensure no issues, but we fell a little behind schedule due to the regular workload of my shop.
Too much new to list today, but I'll update this thread within the next few days. There are more Fieros in my shop than BMW's, but we are still very busy with the BMW work. I have a set of KKK (K03) turbos that I want to add to the VR6 before I take it to the track. Gotta get back to work! Dave
I've been spending the past week working on updating the Haus of Guru website. I should have all the changes made by this weekend. The site will show more detail to my work and give a better idea of the pricing. We have also been working on Alltrbo's car fabricating a custom set of turbo manifolds and trying to figure out how to fit the turbo in its home when the intake is in the way....lot's of fun, but I'm pretty certain Alltrbo will be very impressed when we are finished. (yes, lots of pics to come).
I am also selling the drivetrain from my orange and black Fiero. Something new will be installed later this year.....different....but cool. Dave
