Dave: Good to see you posting again. I have no doubt that the Haus will have no problem getting specialized Fiero work. There are only a few places that will touch a Fiero in NJ and the market, although small, doesn't have many choices. IMO, the real test that separates the men from the boys is the modified 3800SC's with automatics. Tackle one of those and you'll see what I mean, and just be prepared to spend many hours tuning and editing the program.
I do hope that you will be at Carlisle next Sat to introduce your business and give out business cards to everyone there. You are somewhat known to the NJ Fiero community but there will be an audience of people from all over the USA at Carlisle. While you will have guys like myself with their own fully equipped garage, and the DIY's; I know for a fact that there will be several big bucks guys there that want swaps where they can just put the keys in and drive away. I guess thats why they call them "turn key" swaps.

Due to a prior commitment I won't be able to make Carlisle this year. I'm sure I'll see you at one of the future GSF meets. The Haus is a side business for me. It allows me to build a car to the best of my ability without having to worry about paying my overhead and crunching the clock like a flat rate tech...which is how my main business works.

Yep, that would be me. Dave has a lot of work to do on my '88. It's nothing exotic or crazy, I just don't plan on starting the build thread yet.

I just want to say that from what I know and see of Dave, he's the perfect guy for the job. He's an OCD perfectionist like me, but unlike me he has the health, time, and resources to actually do this. I have no doubt that my car is in good hands (coming from paranoid me that's a HUGE compliment).

BTW, here's a BIG public thanks to Joey and Shawn for coming down here and towing the car back after nearly dying several times trying to load it up. Thanks, you're both awesome!

I started the Haus to be able to build some bad ass cars to release some of my OCD tensions. I kept saying to my wife that I would stop spending money on swaps after the next one....and the next one....and the next one. Now, I can still build some cool stuff and make a few bucks to cover my wife's and my bar bill.
I'll post up some pics next week of the stuff we have going on at the shop. We also are going to do a few dyno runs with some L67 Fieros within the next few weeks.

Here is an update from the Haus....
We are currently working on two cars...in the busiest two weeks our shop has of the year (the two weeks surrounding 4th of July). Needless to say, I am exhausted, but making decent progress on both cars at the same time keeping the BMW owners happy.
Here are some pics of Sabooo's car. Joey will be taking over the harness work for the next few days, so I can tend to other issues.

lol. Yeah, that is funny. For the past few weeks, I've been working with two lifts instead of the planned three. (There is the alignment rack on the other side of the shop not in the pic). I've had a lot of compliments about the Fieros from my customers. They think they are Ferraris or other European exotic.
When I first took over the shop, my customers had a different attitude as a German import owner. They looked down on me until I purchased a Benz. Now, they accept my hobby and could care less what kind of car I drive or work on in my spare time. I'm not sure if times have changed or I don't care what they think of my car. (I haven't driven my Benz in about three months because my Fiero is more fun)

we sourced our flywheels locally, but rockauto has them for a decent price. You just need to have it machined and balanced to match the 3800 flexplate. Sabooo ordered the transmission from mantrans.com

Thanks Dave. Only one problem with your statement is that I don't have a flexplate to work with. So that leaves me with sourcing one already machined and balanced. If you had some way to help me out with that I would appreciate it. Honestly, I am just poking around seeing if there is a cheaper source than WCF, FastFieros and Spec.

The 3800 flywheels all have the same balance. In a production environment believe me every engine made by GM is not individually balanced. Parts are simply manufactured to tolerance. When you grind the flywheel down to .84 you are not upsetting the balance. Just make sure that you use a series II 95-up F-Body fywheel and not an older series I.

Getting back on topic things look nice Dave and that pretty assistant that you have doing the wiring must really be proving herself to be an asset.

Just a couple of quick shots from the Haus this past week. We got the suspension assembled and brake discs drilled to the 5x100 pattern. I will rebuild the calipers once they are powdercoated. Here comes the exciting part I am looking forward to.....not sure of how much I can say, but we will be making a custom turbo setup to the owner's exact specs. I am hoping to start on that within the next few weeks once the engine is done being assembled. To catch up on some of the work, I may have to ask Joey to take a vacation with the kids so I can pull some 22 hour days again (Like I did with my VR6).
Anyway, here are some pics.








I also fabricated a custom a/c hose for another project. It has the pressure sensor installed to work with the GTP compressor and programming.


If all goes well, I'll have some really nice wiring harness pics to post by the end of the week. This harness looks cleaner than the one on my personal car came out. It also got me in the mood to rewire my orange GT from the dash-back.

Toys came back from the powdercoating shop. (one day soon, I'll see about setting up a powdercoating oven in my shop.)




In addition, we got to play with some more wiring. I'm not a fan of soldering harnesses, but sometimes the need arises.

For the big bucks man wanting a complete "turn key" swap, The Haus is the place I consider the wiring to be the hardest part of the swap so Joey has got quite an excellent talent to offer. The other day my wife was in her car and I said "let me check the oil, please pop the hood" Paula replied "How do you do that?" I'll let that comment speak for itself.

I took my gold GT over to get dyno'ed this morning. I want to get a general idea of what to expect with _____ mods and put together some packages.
My car is a daily driver that has little mods. Just a 3.4 pulley, 3" CAI and catless exhaust.
Today we put up cold: 279whp and 310tq
Hot (3rd pull) we were at 262whp and 301tq
I took a few videos and I'll post them up later.

Next week, we will be adding 1.84 rockers, a ported inlet and outlet blower with filled silencers, a ported LIM, Northstar throttle body, 4" CAI and larger diameter exhaust. Then we will be taking the car back to get a few more pulls.

I will also be taking the VR6 and Sabooo's over to get done as well.

Sounds like my car right now, not too many mods but those are good numbers! I have yet to get mine dynoed but 260-280whp is awesome. I'm also looking to do the rockers next. Why the 1.84 and not 1.9? Any reason? Also, is this through a manual trans?

This is a 5 speed getrag. The 1.84 Yella Terra rockers are the biggest rockers that can be run on stock valve springs. I don't feel I need to go crazy on my daily driver. I have driven Sabooo's car and I really think that is way too much power for NJ roads....even at part throttle.

What gear did you run that pull in? I have a 4spd manual, would I dyno it in third?

Yeah, out in your area, your car would be a blast to drive. My car hasn't seen 5th gear in months. They don't do "rolling races" around here for two reasons...First is everyone owns a Mustang. Second, is by the time you get rolling the next light turns red.

Yeah, it is nice and quite until they get on it. Guru, any pictures of the exhaust setup in that car? Flowmaster?

It is actually a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust. No cat. Flowtech Terminator muffler with Hooker resonated exhaust tips...stock 3800 manifolds. Trunk not cut.

Yes, I purchased J bends and U bends from Summit Racing. Cut them to the angles. Welded them together. Ground the welds flush. Painted the pipes with ceramic paint....Time consuming, but it is better than crush bent exhaust IMO.

None of my Fieros have cats. They generate too much heat (500+ degrees celcius) for my personal tastes. My V8 goes right through public state inspection. I tell them there is no cats, race mufflers, no emissions at all, not even a pcv valve. I have the windows tinted 5% black. The seatbelts are four point harnesses and they pass me with no issues. I registered it as a collector. Unfortunately, I really don't drive it much. Hopefully that will change after I modernize the engine a bit.
The state inspecion guys aren't too bright. Just tell them that the Fiero is all wheel drive and it has to have a stand still test. No Nox test just HC and CO.

I am slightly confused, mostly because i am at work and can't get any of you pictures or videos to work. But the gold 3800 fiero you dynoed, was it an auto car or a stick car? those are amazing numbers if it is a auto car, and great number if that is a stick car, I am converting my series 3 with headers to a 5 speed and would love to see how I compare to other "similar" cars.

The gold car is a getrag 5 speed. The purpose of this dyno is to post up the horsepower and torque made on this particular setup.....being a very common setup....just a 3.4 pulley, CAI and catless exhaust. Within the next few weeks, we will be modding it to the next step and then taking it back to see those numbers. I also will add my opinion on how streetable the car is for a daily driver at that time.
