I am looking at a 1987 gt and the owner is stating that it is special because it has a GETRAG 5 speed trans. I know the manuals in 87 at least late 87 had 5 speed trans. So is the GETRAG trans special??

Its the 5-speed that came with any model V6 Fiero in 1987, GT or otherwise. Its a pretty decent transmission in my opinion, but I wouldn't consider the car to be "special" because of it.

I have an '84 Fiero parts car that's "special" because it's red.

All manual trans V-6 Fieros from 1985 and the 1st half of 86 had Muncie 4 speed transaxles in them. Mid model year 1986 (around may-June of 86) the 4 speed was replaced by the Getrag 5 speed (as a running change) and was in every manual trans V-6 Fiero from then thru end of production in 1988.
