FOR SALE;

1988 red coupe 2.5 4 cylinder 5 speed isuzu trans runs and drives project. $1200.00. ORIGINAL AD FROM PFF MEMBER I BOUGHT IT FROM: The 1988 Pontiac Fiero is the last year built and has the best suspension and brakes. It would make a great fun first car for a kid without breaking the bank or a dependable car for anyone. Tires are in good shape with plenty of thread left on them. It would make a great parent/child project car. One of the advantages to getting your kid one of these cars is that it is ONLY a 2-seater. Not a lot of piling in and going for a joyride. If you don't like attention, don't buy one of these cars. People are always asking me what kind of car it is.

The 4 cylinder, 5-speed transmission gets great gas mileage and is extremely reliable. The car is currently tagged and inspected. There is NO rust on this car. Many kit cars are built using this platform. Also some people have put the GM 3800 supercharged engine in these cars and the car will run 11's in the 1/4 mile and still give 30+ MPGs. This car can be driven while you fix up your Corvette, Camaro, Firebird or any other hot Rod Rat rod.

It has a brand new water pump and battery installed. The tags and inspection are good until October of next year.

Now given that there are very few miles on this car, it has sat out in the Texas weather for 22 years and the interior reflects it and clear-coat is typical for the GM cars of the 80s. The little 2.5L four cylinder Duke runs great and the 5-speed tranny shifts fine. This car came with dealer added on A/C and a luggage rack.
This car was sold in Dallas Texas and has never been registered anywhere but TX (according to CARFAX). The hood has been replaced and is primered. All other panels still have the VIN tag on them. I have a headliner for the car but it isn't installed. The tires are in real good shape. It seems that it would be perfect to drive anywhere.
I'd keep it as a daily driver but I have other project cars that I use as daily drivers. As with most 21 year old cars, it has issues but with very little work it would be a very nice car once again.
One reason I hate to sell the car is because I doubt that I will ever find an 88 coupe that is so perfect for restoring. I have two other projects that I need to complete more.

ALL OF THE PREVIOUS VERBAGE IS FROM THE GENTLEMAN I BOUGHT IT FROMS ORIGINAL AD HERE ON PENNOCKS. headlight motors do not go up, blinkers dont work, needs paint, interior is semi fair grey in color, no radio installed. runs and drives good. NEW front shocks, new front brake pads. 30+ mpg and its an 88. door skins have been changed out body is pretty sound, rear luggage rack is missing the rear piece, so on... still a good little car though. this was a test mule for my mera body panels and suspension upgrades. it is now back to stock and runs and drives well. shows 13xxx miles on the odometer. i dont think it really is a thirteen thousand mile car but i seriously doubt that its a 100,000 mile car either. DUE TO RECENT HEALTH PROBLEMS I AM SELLING. 1200.00 mike in oklahoma

I have a 1989 GMC S-15 Serria 2.8 TBI, 5 spd.Dark metallic paint. Has good working AC.New clutch and clutch slave two summers back. Rebuilt compressor three summers back. New fuel pump and radiator last summer. Needs paint and upholstery. I'll meet you in Dallas, and you can drive it home. Neighborhood of 160 k. Great rubber on all 4 tires. Good clean Texas title in my name. Tags and sticker good till Jan 2011. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this truck anywhere. I went to Port St Lucie, Fl last June 30th. It ain't perfect, but it is dependable. Jumps outta 1st gear sometimes, so I just start off in 2nd gear unless I am pulling a trailer.

No offense, but 1500 is pretty high for that car, Especially in today's market. I couldn't sell my 87 v6 5 speed. It was completely rust free, had fresh paint, new wheels and tires. The interior was perfect. I was only asking 1,000. I ended up parting it out.

mrjohn thanks for the info. this is a great little car minus the paint and some minor work on the headlights and such. i would really prefer a v8 kit as trade but cash is ok too. as far as if the little car does not sell... i will just tube chassis it with c5 corvette a arms on all four corners, use ferrari f430 brembo calipers on it, drop a ls7 in it with a porsche gearbox. put a mera 308 body kit on it, drop some ferrari f430 19" rims in front and ferrari f430 20" rims in back and have a way cool car. i dont need the money i would prefer the sbc v8 kit seriously. sure i can go buy an archie kit but i dont need this car right now, dont have time to work on it. if someone has a sbc v8 kit they paid 400.00 to 800.00 on ebay for and wants a decent little 88 that drives for trade then it could work out. but it doesnt make me any difference. happy motoring
