I'm offering to buy clusters.

I'm trying to build Firebird plug and play harnesses. I need lots of parts and to keep the prices of the harnesses reasonable I need to buy used parts in bulk. Unfortunately my manufacturing process requires that a Fiero gauge cluster to be sacrificed for each harness. So I need lots of gauge clusters to make them. Time to clean out your closets.

Here are my "no haggle prices" If you want to haggle, feel free but remember these are my no haggle prices based on what I've typically paid for them in the recent past

84-88 - Basic 85 mpm cluster = $10 + shipping

(this includes the 1985 cluster which has markings resembling the backlit clusters but is in fact sidelit)

Typically look like this:

86-88 GT 120 MPH cluster - $50 + shipping

Typically look like this:

86-88 - GT Cluster entire assembly with switches = $70 + shipping

Typically look like this: (I don't really need the surround or the bezels, just the switches)

84-88 - Basic cluster entire assembly with switches= $30 + shipping
Same as above but with 85 mph cluster.

Individual switches $5 a piece + shipping

Headlight switch = $5
Dimmer switch = $5
Trunk popper = $5
defroster switch = $5

There where many of them made but for what you are offering, most ppl will keep them and let them collect dust.

I just bought an 85 MPH cluster on ebay for $0.99+ shipping, so am I lowballing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8044480186&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AEOIBSAA%3AUS%3A31

I'm just offering people a no haggle price. Haggling is always an alternative. You tell me what these parts are worth? If people would rather let their parts collect dust rather than make a buck that's their prerogative.

Hey Jonathon, is there any way you can make connectors or leads instead of having to use clusters? If so, that should save you the headache of having to buy every one you can get your hands on. Oh, and I want one of the harnesses when you're done.

P.S. I was watching FX a little bit ago, and from 11:30PM to 2:00AM I saw the trailer for "Stay Alive" 3 times. I can't wait to see Proud-1 on the big screen in a couple weeks!

Well anything's possible, but I have learned to "live off the land" and reuse as much as I can from the cluster itself down to the fasteners, washers and screws, all come from the clusters. I'm finding them on ebay at a fair price, sorry if the forum thinks otherwise. After I've built up an inventory I'll be offering the plug and play harnesses for sale. I wonder if those same people that want me to pay more for the clusters will want to pay more for the harnesses?

I need to watch more TV or listen to terrestrial radio. I haven't heard a single ad for "Stay Alive" I've been looking forward to this for almost a year. It's going to be like Christmas, New Years and my Birthday all rolled into one when I finally get to see the movie.

Do the parts (gauges and tach, and such) need to be in known working order? I may have a couple but they were pulled from none running cars. So condition is unknown.

Unknown condition is fine. Even completely non-funtional gauges can serve a useful purpose. I'd rather cut up old beat up gauges anyway. Same price.

Hmmm - SInce you are destroying these things anyway - I need something for mine. I need the clear plastic lens that covers the assembly. The car I recently got (86GT, 120MPH speedo) has some poorly done (even has misspellings) white face gauge kit that looks like someone did it on an inkjet printer. At night, because it is not lined up right I can see the rear lit stock gauge numbers and cant read any of the gauges. The temp gauge is best - it goes from "40" to "100" to "125" in the red. At first I thought it might have been degrees C - but it says F anyway...

Anywho - I have a real nice ebay white gauge face kit with backlit gauge faces. But, mine doesnt have a lens. Makes it easy to unstick the temp gauge while you drive. I'll paypal you $15 for a nice lens slow shipped to 60126. PM me if you want to sell one....

Here's an update to what I'm building...

The Fiero doesn't use any standard connectors that you can buy from Delphi or anywhere else, so the only way to make this plug and play is to gut the actual cluster for the dash to plug into.

For the headlight, dimmer and trunk popper the Fiero plugs into gutted out switches are now connectors. The dimmer is the same on the Fiero and the Firebird but I offer a pass though to make the routing easier. The dimmer switch is needed anyway for the circuit board so it's not wasted needlessly.

Pictured is the second one I've built. After I've built a few more I will be offering for sale. I'm not trying to get rich here, but several people have been very insistant that I build these and I'm doing it more of a service to the Fiero community.

I know you already know this JScott, and it may be irrelevant for what you are doing, but a reminder that the 84 (with cruise RPO) instrument pod circuit board is different than all the others. It has the cruise control electronics built into the board. No separate CC module on those particular 84s.

I'm looking for one as well, to get my CC working.

Thanks Don, yep I know about the 84 cluster as I have a couple of 84s myself.

I want to thank everyone for the awesome support I have gotten in the Mall. After all the mail is delivered from the deals above, I should have enough clusters and switches to hold me for a while. I probably need to post on an F-body board to get some parts over there?

I have a cluster at home, I think it's a sidelit 85mph cluster. It's different then the 120mph one I have. The whole setup is different. Probably have some switches too, I'll see what's kickin around in my basement junkyard.

Yeah the 85 looks like the 120 but it's sidelit...kind of an inbetween model. I'll take all clusters and switches, regardless of condition per the agreed price.

I don't need the clear cover...I have a whole box full of them. The connectors are cool, if you want to leave them connected. All clusters purchased at the agreed price, thanks.

Jonathan I will be going through my stock of stuff and shipping it to you. Once you get them and determine the price then you can paypal me. Is that cool or do you need it? I have a wiring harness from a Firebird with speedo cluster. I don't think I'll be getting around to adapting it to my car though. Would you be intrested in that too?

Thanks to everyone that offered to sell me clusters and swtiches. I received so many parts it's kind of overwhelming. If I still owe anyone money, send me a PM and help remind me what you sent. It's kind of hard to match screen names to real names on the box.

Jonathon, Are you still doing this? I found a couple of 85s the other day and I probably have some switches too. The clusters are in surrounds but I can take them out to make shipping easier if you still want them. Let me know. I know this is an old thread.
