Some people are "wired for outrage" at the slightest suggestion, there's never a shortage of others who are all too willing to follow along, and there are always people eager to exploit that outrage for their own purposes. These are generally the same people who also found the Harry Potter stories, both in print and on film, morally objectionable. The fact that Geico is a Berkshire-Hathaway company (Warren Buffett) suggests that there may be a poltical as well as a moral agenda involved here.

The American Family Association (AFA) is a United States non-profit organization that promotes conservative fundamentalist Christian values.[2][3][4][5][6][7] It opposes same-sex marriage, pornography, and abortion.[8][9] It also takes a position on a variety of other public policy goals such as deregulation of the oil industry[citation needed] and has lobbied against the Employee Free Choice Act.[10] It was founded in 1977 by Donald Wildmon as the National Federation for Decency and is headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Here we go again. The PC police. "It offended me". Everything will offend someone. I've seen this commercial a few times and never once thought of it that way. Makes you wonder where their minds are. Just read several days ago that some people in Israel are offended by the new Chevy "SS". SS as in Nazi, Germany.
Incidently, in regards to Chevrolet, "SS" stands for Super Sport.
Oh Dude, it's so ridiculous. I saw that news article and thought to myself... seriously... WTF?
My wife is Jewish, my grandparents in Holland hid Jews in the attic of their factory, and no one I know is stupidly-ridiculous like this. I mean, maybe if they called the car StupidStaffel or whatever the hell SS stands for, then that would be a different story... but COME ON... it's a totally different language, "Super Sport!"
EDIT: The car in the picture above is totally hot looking.

Don't forget P&Gs "man in the moon" which recently was accused by do-gooderes as something satanic
Most geico commercials are devoid of any real intelligence, so what does that say about a group that so vehemently protests it? Once again, b&js should make a flavor called one million moos, and geico should offer discounts for livestock insurance.

This is the problem when the majority of the population falls for the notion of p-c, you get a bunch of thin skinned whiney idiots that have no sense of humor.

Obviously, now that you pointed it out. So obvious, I had not even thought of that. I think it applies to more than we notice, including posting in T/OT.

My dad had one of those new and had to sell it 2 years later because he said "I Do". I'm a Chevy/GM guy and had a few Super Sports myself. Wish I still had them, but I'm married too. (Which is a good thing.)

politically, I have seen many here who identify themselves as conservatives rail against all things "pc" and this group in the article identifies itself as a conservative group. big time. is PC still bad when someone of the same political leaning as you is so nutty in this way? or do we use the old cop out "well, they are not true conservatives" like how christians talk about westboro baptist?

No. We don't use any cop outs.
We say that not all conservatives believe alike. (as all liberals don't believe alike). They have many fundamental principles they agree upon, but there is still going to be some variation.
I thought you were just getting on me recently about judging people as a group.
I'm conservative. And I'm unashamedly against bestiality (but I wouldn't be mean to someone who was into it. I'd be nice to them like anyone else.)
I just don't see what this group is angry about, and I sense some hypocrisy.
I bet they have their children read lots of childrens books where the animals speak, act like humans, interact like humans (in a non sexual way, to be sure). They don't have any problem suspending reality that animals aren't humans in that situation, and understand that it is fantasy. Why are they having a hard time applying that same concept to the Geico gecko and to the pig?
I wonder if they complain about Disney's Beauty and the Beast??? or Brian on Family Guy dating women??? or King of the Hill with the dolphin sexually attacking people???
L8r,
Kevin
Or the cannibalism in Rocky and Bullwinkle!
I'll care when all One Million Mom's personally sign a statement saying they really give a rats ass.

It's the one where GEICO's talking pig "Maxwell" is stuck in a disabled car with a young woman who wants to hit on him.
While I saw the commercial and laughed at Maxwell's naivete , I was also wondering why she'd want to kiss a pig. I'd guess she thought he was cute (but still)...
