Another neighbour gave me a car today. It has a new engine 3000 miles ago, recon gearbox, and a top end stereo system. He only bought it 7 months ago for his wife Put the engine and gearbox in...and she drove it for about a month, then parked it in the street. Just yesterday I went up to them in the street, and offerted to repair the wing mirror somne idiot had brokern off. I noticed that it had a tyre showing low pressure, so said I would inflate it for them at the same time. He said ?I can't be bothered with it any more. I paid 1000 euros for it last January, and the engine blew. So I had a new one fitted...cost 1201 euros. Now the tyre is flat, the wing mirror is broken off, and the inspection is due. I just don't want to bother with it any more. Can you see if you can find a wrecker to pick it up?'.
I said ' Hey!! It is easily repairable!! Just needs three screws to refit the mirror, pump the tyre up, and it will pass inspection no trouble!'
So he gave me the keys, and said 'See what you can do with it...it's yours to do as you wish'. Signed the papers over, and now it is parked outside our house

Took me all of an hour to run the buffer over her, and vacuum the inside, and remove the horrible cheapo seat covers
So, that was the good fortune. The bad? See my laptop/battery thread

That is a neat looking car. You can't argue with the price either I don't recognize the 'brand' though- what is it?

Wow...nice neighbor!

Well, in Spain you shouldn't have any trouble getting parts for it.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Renault in the States.....one running anyway.

In TEXAS?? Do they still have a dealer network over here? I thought they gave up on the US in the 80's.

For a while, Chrysler had a stake in them...then Nissan.

I really have no idea. All I know was it was a middle age lady, who just got off work. The Renault was a red hatch, that was LHD and had manual windows. It was brand spanking new though. I can't recall what kind it was.

However I am starting to see those Fiat 500's all over the place. They have opened 3 dealers within 30 minutes of me.

Several years ago, we had a small motor home with a 4 cylinder Renault turbo diesel. The drivetrain was amazingly smooth and reliable, but the rest of the vehicle was a pile of crap. That engine would rock in my S10!
