Yes. My father originally purchased it at a city of Houston auction tho, and then "sold" it to me (in my name) in exchange for my future labor in his shop.

I paid for my first car (used $1,000), but it was in my Dad's name. Insurance purposes. I paid for my second car (new), and it was in my name.

I got my first car at 18, bought and paid for myself, and titled in my name. But in Nebraska, you have to be 18 to hold a title in your own name, so if I had gotten it earlier, it would have been titled in my dad's name until I turned 18.

Yes, I owned my first car... a 1967 Chevrolet Caprice 2 dr hardtop with a 396ci big block. I paid $1200 cash for it back in 1974. I was 18 years old and had been working for a year after graduating from high school the previous year.

My first car was a 1975 Mustang II (coupe with the 2.3 liter boat anchor engine and 4 speed). I was 17 and it was in my name.
